board.task@sbcglobal.net I
was introduced to TASK through a personal connection. My son
has found in TASK a place to interact and grow. I have found a
vehicle to help those like him to succeed.
The amount of
effort we put into TASK will never match the amount of pure
appreciation returned. We help them to find something within
themselves for which they have few other outlets. Providing
this place is more meaningful than anything I can think
of. My service continues because TASK is a very worthwhile
cause. Our efforts are rewarded when we see the smiles on the
faces of our athletes. This is why I continue to support TASK.

I joined the TASK
Board of Directors, and continue to serve, for two reasons: One,
recognition of the unique and valuable opportunities that TASK
provides to the athletes and their families, and two, the
opportunity to be part of such a talented and caring group of
individuals that make up the TASK family.
I have learned
first hand what a great organization this is through participation
in it's programs by my son Neal, who would not have had the team
sport experience in his life were it not for TASK.

Board Treasurer
Board Member Since:

Vice-President

In 1996 Deb Fruend
asked if I would help with a T-Ball team made up of children in her
classes that did not have the opportunity to play in other sports
leagues. I had spent most of life on the softball field, first as an
athlete and then as a coach and manager of each of my own
children’s teams. It seemed like a perfect fit for me to help her
out. As time went on a Board of Directors was developed and network
management and bookkeeping had to be done. Once again it seemed like
a perfect fit for me. To this day I still enjoy seeing the
children’s faces when they hit a ball or make a basket.

I
have been a member of the TASK "family" since it's
inception in 1996. Deb asked if I could help with T-Ball and of
course, I said yes. How could I turn her down when I knew
how much it meant to her? Well needless to say, it now means so much
to me, too. To start with around 30 kids and end up today with
somewhere between 700 and 800 kids, you can't help but see what a
need there is for this type of program. To see the smile on kids
faces when they get a hit, or a strike or a spare, etc. It'll melt
your heart. I continue to serve on the Board because I truly believe
in TASK ... what it means to the families of these special
kids, the experience it gives to all of our volunteers, and,
especially, the excitement and experience of "Team
Activities" it gives to these "Special Kids".

Mike Hunter
Board Member since
8/1998
Occupation: Attorney Williams
Venker & Sanders LLC board.task@sbcglobal.net I started
with TASK as a volunteer at tee ball at the suggestion of my wife,
Molly, who had become a TASK volunteer through her job as an
occupational therapist with the St. Louis County Special School
District. I had a great time and was charmed by the athletes.
As the demands of my career increased and Molly and I had our children
Gracie and Sam, I didn't have the time to commit to the
activities. I became a member of the board to help TASK using
my professional expertise when I could no longer devote time as an activity
volunteer. TASK has done and will continue to do great work.
I remain a member to help in any way I can and because I am proud to
be associated with caring people and a worthwhile program

Chris Sonntag
Board member since:
8/1998
Occupation: Office
Manager
Lake,
Gantz, Lake & Price, LLC
board.task@sbcglobal.net
When
I was asked to join the Board, I believed that I would be helping
out a "Fruend who was very committed to an 'idea' of
helping special kids play a team sport - it sounded good to
me. Eight weeks of softball, all we need is a name, place to
play and team shirts. Little did I know that helping my friend
would introduce me to 26 really special kids and their parents, and
to also love being a part of this 'idea called TASK,'
and all who are a part of it."
I stay, because, I have seen
the love and commitment for the athletes and the programs by all of
the families, friends, volunteers and supporters working towards its
success, and there are many. In spite of the limited time,
these days, I have to help with the monthly sport programs, it is
comforting to know that this "idea called TASK," has grown
to the organization that it is today.
